Turkish biometric photo

Turkey's civil registration authority (NVI) publishes the biometric photo rules used for passports, ID cards and driving licences: exactly 50 x 60 mm on a white, patternless background with no shadows, taken within the last 6 months, the face centered and fully visible including the hairstyle, eyes open and clearly visible, looking directly at the camera. The NVI warns specifically that photos must not be cut down to 35 x 45 mm. This tool crops and checks your photo on your device - nothing is uploaded.

Checked against the official sources below on 7 Nov 2026.

Source checked November 2026: the Turkish civil registration authority's (NVI) published biometric photo features, which apply to passports, ID cards and driving licences and follow ICAO standards. The NVI states that photos brought in the wrong size or background can fail quality control, forcing a new application.

The NVI explicitly warns photographers not to cut the photo to 35 x 45 mm - the Turkish biometric format is larger (50 x 60 mm).

How to do it
  1. Take a photo against a plain white background, looking directly at the camera, eyes open.
  2. Upload below, frame the face and hairstyle fully inside the guides, and create the 50 x 60 mm file.
  3. Confirm every checklist line, download, and print at exactly 50 x 60 mm - never smaller.
