Thailand e-Visa photo

Thailand's e-Visa application (thaievisa.go.th, Ministry of Foreign Affairs) asks for a recent passport-size photograph taken within the last six months, in JPG or JPEG format, at most 3 MB. The official manual states no pixel size, background or expression rule - the portal offers a downloadable example photograph. This tool converts your photo to a clean JPG inside the 3 MB limit on your device, and lists the few rules that are published.

The official requirements

File formatJPG or JPEG (this tool delivers JPG)
File size3 MB maximum
RecencyTaken within the last 6 months
StylePassport-size photograph - the portal provides a downloadable example photograph
Pixel sizeNot stated in the official instructions - no crop is applied here
Background and expressionNo rules published; a plain light background and neutral expression are the safe choice

Checked against the official sources below on 7 Nov 2026.

The published Thailand e-Visa instructions specify only the format (JPG/JPEG), the 3 MB size limit and the 6-month recency. This tool therefore does not crop and invents no extra rules: it converts to JPG, confirms the size limit, and reminds you of the published rules. The application portal offers an official example photograph to compare against.

How to do it
  1. Take a recent passport-style photo: facing the camera, plain light background, neutral expression.
  2. Upload it below; the tool converts it to JPG without cropping and checks the 3 MB limit.
  3. Confirm the checklist lines yourself - including that the photo is less than 6 months old.
  4. Download and upload it in your Thailand e-Visa application.
Common questions

What pixel size does the Thai e-Visa need?
The official instructions state none - only JPG/JPEG format and the 3 MB limit. This tool keeps your photo at full resolution and re-saves it as JPG.

Is there a background rule?
None is published. The portal's example photograph shows a standard passport-style photo, so a plain light background is the safe choice.

Can I use an old photo?
No - the instructions require the photograph to be taken within the last six months.
