Indonesia e-VOA photo
Indonesia's electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VOA) application guide asks for a passport-size photo: 4 x 6 cm with a resolution of at least 400 x 600 pixels, at most 200 KB, in JPEG, JPG or PNG format, in color with the face facing forward. The official Directorate General of Immigration guide rejects colored backgrounds, heavy shadows, hair covering the face, hats, sunglasses and face coverings. Crop and compress to the exact frame below - your photo never leaves your device.

Checked against the official sources below on 7 Nov 2026.
These requirements come from the official e-VOA user guide published by the Directorate General of Immigration (hosted on the Indonesian embassy domain kbri-canberra.go.id, dated 5 November 2022). That guide documents the molina.imigrasi.go.id portal, which was unreachable when checked in November 2026; the current official portal (evisa.imigrasi.go.id) publishes no photo requirements openly. These are the most recent official numbers we could verify (checked November 2026) - if your own application shows different limits, follow your application.
How to do it
- Take a color photo facing the camera against a plain light wall, with no strong shadows.
- Upload it below and frame head and shoulders between the guide lines.
- Create the file - exactly 2:3, under 200 KB - and confirm every checklist line passes.
- Download and upload it in your e-VOA application at evisa.imigrasi.go.id.
Common questions
Is a blue background allowed?
No. The official guide's photograph examples mark a colored (blue) background as rejected. Use a plain light background.
Can I wear a head covering?
The guide's examples reject hats, sunglasses and face coverings, and hair covering the face. Nothing more specific is published; when in doubt, follow the examples.
Is a smile allowed?
The guide states no expression rule - only that the face faces forward. A neutral expression is the safe choice.
