China visa photo for the online form
China's online visa form takes a JPEG photo of 354 x 472 pixels, 40-120 KB - one of the few forms with both a minimum and a maximum file size. The visa centre FAQ caps the online upload at 354 x 472 px, while the general photo standard allows up to 420 x 560 px. This tool exports 354 x 472 px, which satisfies both. The printed photo for the appointment is 33 x 48 mm.

The minimum 40 KB catches many users out: a clean studio-style photo compresses well below it. This tool raises quality to the maximum first and never pads the file; if the file still falls short it says so and asks for a more detailed original rather than faking the size.
How to do it
- Take a photo against a white or near-white wall, facing the camera, ears visible.
- Upload it below; keep the crown near the top line and eyes on the red line.
- Create the file and confirm all three checks pass.
- Download and upload it in the online application; bring a 33 x 48 mm print to the appointment if asked.
Common questions
My photo is only 25 KB - why is that a problem?
The portal enforces 40-120 KB. Under-compressed is not accepted either; this tool saves at the highest genuine quality, and if the file is still too small it tells you instead of padding the file.
Is the online photo the same as the paper one?
Same framing rules, different file: 354-420 px wide digital upload plus a 33 x 48 mm glossy print for submission.
