Indian visa photo for the online form
The regular Indian visa form at indianvisaonline.gov.in checks the uploaded photo mechanically: it must be a square JPEG between 350 x 350 and 1000 x 1000 pixels, 10 KB to 300 KB. Below you can crop and export exactly that file without sending your photo to any server.
The official requirements
| Dimensions | Square: 350 x 350 px minimum, 1000 x 1000 px maximum (this tool outputs 900 x 900, shrinking toward the minimum only if needed for the size limit) |
|---|---|
| File format | JPEG (.jpg) |
| File size | 10 KB to 300 KB |
| Head size | The digital-upload rules do not state a head size; keep the whole head visible and centred, top of hair to bottom of chin. Where a mission asks for a printed 2 x 2 inch photo, its own photo instructions apply |
| Background | Plain light-coloured or white, no shadows, no borders |
| Other rules | Full face, front view, eyes open; head centred and fully visible from top of hair to bottom of chin |

Some consulates additionally ask for a printed 2 x 2 inch (51 x 51 mm) photo at the appointment. The digital file here covers the online upload; check your mission's page for the print.
How to do it
- Take a photo facing the camera against a plain light or white wall.
- Upload it below and frame the whole head, top of hair to bottom of chin.
- Create the file and confirm the checklist passes.
- Download and upload it in the photo step of the online visa form.
Common questions
The form says 'Only JPEG files can be uploaded' - why?
The portal checks the file type strictly. PNG or iPhone HEIC photos are refused; this tool always exports a real JPEG.
Is this also valid for the e-Visa?
Yes - the e-Visa accepts a square JPEG of 10 KB to 1 MB, and a 900 x 900 px file under 300 KB passes both forms.
